Wrapper
 

The Taffy Wrapper is responsible for operating the original Model K Kiss Wrapper to cut and wrap our candy during regular production. Should be able to focus and able to repeat specific directions with attention to detail and no distractions. Includes machine preparation, operation, cleaning and troubleshooting. It is a privilege to operate the machine which has cut and wrapped every piece of taffy that our store has sold for decades. Involves lifting 20# repeatedly, and occasionally up to 50#; standing for long periods of time, making regular small adjustments to the machine in order for the taffy to be cut and wrapped correctly (as all of America passes by the front window). Technical aptitude not required, but applicants must be comfortable learning to operate machinery, and pay close attention to details. Hourly wage offer will be made after successful interview. Schedule is posted weekly depending on employee needs. Hours are negotiable, and may be flexible, or a set schedule, this position may be year-round; may work other positions to increase hours depending on production needs.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Walk, bend, lift, twist & stand for extended periods of time

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follow written and verbal directions accurately

  • Operate machines & equipment safely following established guidelines and policies
  • Prepare, maintain and clean Model K Wrapping and Taffy Pulling machinery following guidelines
  • Monitor more than one batch or process simultaneously
  • Anticipate supply needs and communicate needs with Manager
  • Anticipate and modify pace of candy making depending on other team positions
  • Troubleshoot to overcome expected mechanical/operational variations
  • Demonstrate & explain processes to customers periodically
  • Other duties as assigned

Cook
 

Primarily responsible for independent cooking in the kitchen out of public view. Must be focused and able to repeat specific directions with attention to detail and no distractions. Includes standing for long periods and moving 20-50# of ingredients, handling very hot candy and independently managing the work flow. Hourly wage offer will be made after successful interview. Schedule is posted weekly depending on employee and store needs, hours each week may vary from 8-32 hours. A set schedule is possible if needed; this position may be year-round; may work other positions to increase hours depending on production needs.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Scoop, pour, measure, mix and divide ingredients by hand repeatedly

Counter

Responsible for daily store operations including customer service and sales, inventory management, operating some equipment, assisting with candy production, taking/filling/shipping mail orders, cleaning & organization. Position involves lifting 15# repeatedly, and occasionally up to 50#. Applicants should be well groomed, professional, friendly, proactive with customers, with excellent conversational English communication skills. Involves standing and moving for several hours during busy periods. This would be an ideal first job to learn work ethic & responsibility in a safe environment, or a comfortable position for an experienced retail employee in a consistently positive atmosphere selling an established candy to loyal customers, and developing new customers by sharing the product and the company story. It is a privilege to operate this store to sell a high-quality product, and share the history of our Estes Park tradition. Schedule is posted weekly depending on employee needs. A set schedule is possible if needed; this position could be year-round. The right applicant may be offered other positions in the company that pay more and offer additional responsibilities.

  • Sort and organize candy during production
  • Prepare supplies and clean as needed to open store

  • Maintain system of rotation to insure freshest taffy and supplies
  • Answer phone: answer general questions, take mail orders
  • Safely operate taffy puller: Prepare and load, maintain texture, unload
